New Shingles Around Roof Vent

The shingles are installed over the base or boot. Vent flashing is a cylindrical piece of flashing that fits right around the vent. Otherwise replace it with a new one that will fit the hole or pipe. Cover the entire flange with shingles to integrate it better into the roof.

This aluminum cap is the finished product and does not require. Apply the last row of shingles that is just below the vent pipe as shown in figure 1. However on the roof of my outbuilding and the roof of my parents house i noticed that the shingles at the bottom edge of the vent are filled in over the lower part of the flange cut around the profile of the vent. Remove air vents and pipe flashings by prying out or unscrewing the fasteners holding the fixture.
